Incarcerated Dream

Last night I dreamed of escape,
my eyes submerged outside the tall skyscrape.
And I watched the downtown flutter around, my head pressed against the glass.
Behind me she spoke with carelessness. It was not really her.
In sadness I left to roam the streets, directed into a maze of lilacs.
A man crossed my path as he mysteriously appeared, wearing a strange mask.
He did nothing to harm me.
Only I could feel his stare as I wandered confused, the apparition vanished into the air.
I could not understand the signs or names.
I could not withdraw from the deserted place, unable to recall why she wasn’t true.
Leaving the vast and dark mansion, to roam the stone road like molasses at my feet, waking from the enigma, forever haunting my sleep.
